"A Weekend of Compassion: Meditating on Chenrezig Within"
According to the Buddha, there is only one practice that needs to be internalized by a person
seeking spiritual awakening: Great Compassion. Whoever has great compassion, the
Buddha said, "has all the qualities of buddhahood in their hand."

This weekend will be devoted to the practice of Great Compassion --
through the practices of bodhicitta and especially through the mantra practice of the bodhisattva
known as "The Great Compassionate One, Chenrezig." Cherezig is the Tibetan name for the
bodhisattva called Avalokiteshvara in Sanskrit, who "sees the sufferings of the world"
and attempts to lead all sentient beings to awakening.

During the weekend, we will learn how to meditate on bodhicitta, write and recite
Chenrezig's mantra, and attempt to collect a total of 100,000 recitations of the Chenrezig
mantra for the benefit of suffering beings around the world. Our Glen Helen shrine room
will be "open all night" in case people want to practice at any time.
Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows will conclude the weekend's observances.
