The Vow of Refuge is the first step on the Buddhist path; it is how we are introduced to Buddhist faith, philosophy and practice and is our entrance on the path of liberation from Suffering. Before the ceremony Lama Kathy will give a short teaching about Refuge, followed by the vow-taking ceremony. Program begins at 1 p.m. and ends by 2:30 p.m.
All audiences, especially those interested in taking Refuge
Nice to bring an offering for the shrine (flowers) and small offering for the teacher giving the ceremony. White offering scarves will be provided for those who would like to participate in the traditional Tibetan white scarf offering after the Refuge Ceremony
Great information about Refuge (if you’d like to read about it in advance) is at this link:
Cathy’s home is located off North High Street in the Olentangy Village apartment and condo complex. From North High Street, turn onto West Kelso Road (Mama Mimi’s Pizza and Aladdin’s Eatery are on the corner) and follow until it dead-ends. Turn right and follow this road for approximately 0.2 miles. Turn left onto Sunset Cove, and then follow it as it winds around to your right. There’s a set of garages on your right; Cathy’s condo is located on the left and is the corner condo across from the last garage. BEST PLACE TO PARK is at the base of Sunset Cove in the small guest lot, next to the dumpsters/trash bins.
